Please leave a message. Beeeeep.

If you want to get a hold of me or Mike, the best way is via e-mail. The second best way is cell phone. The least preferred way is our home phone.

When someone calls our home phone, if they are lucky we'll answer it. Sometimes we don't answer it because we're busy. Sometimes we don't answer it because we see who it is on caller ID and we just don't want to talk to that person -- usually it's someone wanting money. A lot of times we don't answer it because we can't actually find the phone.

Consequently, we get a lot of voicemail messages. But we don't always check the voicemail on our home phone. Kind of out of site, out of mind.

That's all gonna change now because Mike just showed me that I can actually check my home voicemail online! What will they link of next?

I just log into Bright House, which delivers our phone, cable and internet services. From there I can click "My Voicemails." Each call is listed separately so I can see who called. I can click the sound file to listen to the message and delete them once I am finished. How cool is that?!

So if you call my house and we don't answer -- I'm sure we just can't find the phone. Of course I'd answer if I knew it was you. Anyway, feel free to leave a message. I'll listen to it the next time I'm online.

I almost always don't answer my cell phone. We don't use our house phone at all. We only got it for our alarm system. I always tell people to leave me a message if they want to talk to me. My cell phone usually transfers to voice mail faster than I can get to it! I can't keep it next to me at home because a certain little boy is known for snatching it away and calling all my contacts!

Oh yeah and just realized that your on my blog the same time again! LOL My vacation and sick days all come from same place (They call it flextime.) Plus to make matters worse, I have what they call a WOW contract (which means work on weekends). We get paid 1 1/2 times the amount of the other nurses. Anyhow with that contract, you can only have 1 weekend off per quarter (regardless of how much flex you have). My vacation uses 2 quarters or a half a years worth! They like to threaten us all the time with revoking our WOW contract! It stinks. Anyhow, I think I more than answered you question! Good night! Got to get up early for the other job tomorrow and I am feeling all achey again!

I'm dropping my landline next week when my contract is up. I had 4 cordless phones and Dani has managed to lose all of them. I'm sure I'll find them when she leaves for college in August. In the meantime, we just let the phone go. I'm sure there are hundreds of voice messages there but they are all from creditors, so I don't answer.
If a phone number comes up unavailable or an 800 number I don't answer.
I oculd check my voice mail on my computer too, but the account is still in my ex's name and he has the main screen name and I'd need his password to access it. SO not worth the trouble!

I haven't quite figured it out why but I absolutely hate answering my phone when people call (even if it's my mother!). I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one out there with phone issues!
