Fragments, already

It took me 5 long minutes to come up with that winner of a title. I think I've caught writer's block from my friend Insomnimom. Hopefully dishing it out in small doses via Mrs. 4444s Friday Fragments will help shake things loose.

School's out. And back in. The boys finished up on Tuesday. Annie started summer school on Wednesday. Then the next two weeks are camps for the boys -- sports camp, art camp, science camp. Why does everything happen in June? June is when I want to kick back and relax. Offer camps in July when we're all sick of each other again.

PhotobucketThis is Charlie on one of the last days of school -- Field Day. Who could resist a charmer like this?

Who knew that my lack of social life would elicit such a response? Lots of interesting comments re: the reality (or not) of Facebook. And one sad comment about the effect of having children on the capacity for fun, which I will respond to in a future post. As far as Facebook goes, I think I'm pretty honest about my life in my comments. If I'm having a fat day or a crummy day, I don't mind putting it out there. The same if something good happens. But I know some people only put the "pretty" stuff on their statuses.

I made a new recipe to take to a pitch-in the other night. It was an easy enough recipe that even a bad cook like me couldn't mess it up:

PhotobucketGuacamole Kabobs

2 avacados
2 TBS lime juice
2 TBS cilantro
1/4 tsp salt
Cherry or grape tomatoes

Cut the avacados down the middle, remove the pit, cut the flesh from the skin. Cube the avacado. Toss with lime juice, cilantro and salt. Put on party pics, alternating tomato, avacado, tomato. The yumminess of guacamole, without the added calories and fat of chips to dip in it.

Question:  Parents of high schoolers -- Does your kid have an internet-capable phone? Why or why not?

I think that's about it for this week's edition of Friday Fragments. Until next time, join the 4th Frog fun on Facebook, where you can see things like this little gal. (Her name's Tootsie and I met her in the nail salon!)

Don't forget to visit Mrs. 4444s for more fragmented folks!

Why is there a monkey in that purse? Did I just MISS the explanation somewhere?

I post crummy stuff too, but I try to accentuate the positive without ever lying.

Right now I'm torked off that I cannot find a receipt to return to prints we bought. Now that living room is done, I don't think they "go." But I cannot find the durn receipt.

I did, however, find a bag of still good Kisses. While it's not $50 worth, it's a sweet consolation.

They're very yummy looking kabobs!

My 12 and 14 year olds don't have internet on their phones, mostly because I'm still paying their bills! We've told them they can have phone net access when they can pay for it. Which I rather hope they'll be able to do in the next few years. (We call it high school from year 7 to 12, I'm right in thinking you're referring to the last 3 years though aren't I?)

Awesome recipe!! Genius, really.

Part of why I always want to read your blog, etc, is because of the honesty. I often post the non-rosy stuff, too. Life is never ALL GOOD for anyone, and I appreciate those who can be open about that.

My son graduted from high school this year, my daughter will be a junior in the fall. Neither of them have internet on their phones. Between the cost and the fact they have laptops and access to the internet at school, I just don't see the reason to have it on their phones as well.

I try really hard not to post when I'm mad. I don't blog about things when I'm mad either. I regret most everything I say when upset, so I have trained myself not to type during those times LOL

A monkey in a bag? Well that's something you wouldn't normally see!

I love that recipe because I'm not a fan of tortilla chips (they don't have enough taste to balance out the calories, IMO) but I love guacamole. Thanks!

By the way, I love that Random Blog Topic Generator. Thank yewwww!!!

A monkey in a bag? Well, that is something you don't see every day! What a hoot!

No, my kids don't have internet-enabled phones. Neither do I.

But, I do admit envying my husband's Blackberry. But, his company pays the bill for it.

Charlie looks like a fun kid :)

yum...avocados...

My kids have Smart phones they bought themselves, and they pay for the internet packages on my bill. I'm not worried about them using the internet, though I realize I've lost control of that. I think it depends on the kids--I feel confident that mine are old enough now (and responsible enough) to handle them.

My two older boys have phones, neither has internet. One is in college, the other just graduated high school. They have access at home and school, they don't need it on their phones, lol. If they want it they can pay for it. Now Jacob is going into 5th grade, he thinks he needs a phone. Not until middle school, which starts in 7th grade here. They grow up so fast!

Just found your blog. Loved it!

My 16 year old has net on his phone. We live in an area with no DSL for the house. Our only option is dial up or satellite internet. So, we all have internet on our phones.
