Peeves not pooches

Last week I was drawing a blogging blank, so I asked for suggestions on the 4th Frog Facebook page. A friend suggested I blog about my pet peeves. So Theresa, this post is for you.

Honestly, I had to think a minute about my pet peeves. I'm not even sure if these qualify. What differentiates a pet peeve from something that just bugs you? Are they one and the same? Either way, here is what stands on my last nerve with size 13 work boots:
  1. Intelligent, educated people using ghetto language. For instance, a bright 15-year-old girl I know will write on her Facebook page: Qurl, which I think translates to "Girl." So why not just write the obvious?
  2. Arrogant chefs on Food Network's Chopped. Why are they always young and male?
  3. A chalkboard or dry erase board that is almost, but not totally, erased. One little half-inch stray mark left on the board somewhere drives me bananas -- so much so that I've been known to get up and erase it.
  4. Compulsive channel flippers. Pick a show and watch it. Even during the commercials.
  5. Serial interrupters. Let people finish a sentence or two, will you?
That's not too bad is it? How about you? What are your pet peeves?

Before I started my blog, I wrote a girlfriend chain email about this, and I actually lost two relationships over it.

Peeves, there are many.

Quiet talkers in clas--I have students who yell on the classroom but mumble in class.
Confusing infer with imply.
Ellipsis with more than three ...
Not knowing the plural of ellipsis!
The slang language drives me crazy too--my step d-i-l's do it, and it just sounds so dumb!

Oh, I should go back and see what I wrote a few years ago...

It's late, I'm tired. They yell on the playground. Sheesh!

Typos are my pet peeve. And I'm peeved often!

Waiting for a car to pass so that you can make a left turn and the car makes a right turn. In other words, my pet peeves is people who don't signal when they make a right turn. Drives me nuts!

people who don't return grocery cart to the cart corral, ESPECIALLY when they are parked within feet of it. How about paying at the pump for gas but having to go inside to get the receipt...kind of defeats the purpose of paying at the pump for me.

Thanks Amy! My big pet peeves include people who park in handicapped parking spots and very clearly are not handicapped and women who talk on cell hones in public restrooms. Really?

My pet peeves are mostly grammar-related ones. I get really bothered when someone uses I/me incorrectly, when an apostrophe is used in the wrong place, when a price has both a decimal sign and a cents sign, and when someone uses "their" instead of "he" or "she."
UGH!

Too many to count ... and most of them are probably things that I have been guilty of DOING! You would never survive in my house! Hubby is always channel surfing. Drives me NUTS!

You wouldn't survive a minute over here with Mr.4444 flipping the channel every two seconds....

My peeve of the day is people who stop to take photos in public places with little regard to who might have to step over all of their crap left in the middle of the hallway on their way through. Oops. Pretty sure that was my family doing that. Sorry...
