What is this country coming to?

Sears Tower

I very rarely watch the television news and tonight I was reminded why. It's mostly bad, or at the least, disheartening news. Tonight I was shocked at the news that tomorrow the Sears Tower in Chicago will be renamed the "what-you-talkin'-about" Willis Tower.

What's next?

The Taco Bell?

Taco Bell

Mount Prudential?

Mount Prudential
(You know, a piece of the rock?)

Where is our sense of history? Our sense of nostalgia and tradition? Is a big fat paycheck really worth tossing aside a well-recognized and treasured moniker?

Wonder how much I could get for re-naming this one "Oscar Mayer?"

Oscar Meyer

Wow!! That is quite a messy dog!!

I hear ya... I get so tired of there needing to be changes to names based on $$. RCA Dome... Hoosier Dome.

I don't watch the news either. Why are they renaming the Sears Tower?

That hot dog looks awesome. Makes me wish we were visiting Chicago. We were going to this summer, but I don't think it's going to work out. Maybe next year.

I hate the whole renaming things, especially icons like the Sears Tower! It will always be the Sears Tower to me. As always, it's all about money, but I wish sometimes that it could be all about tradition, respect, and what's right before money.
Love your blog - haven't had much time this summer to visit, but you always make me smile. :)
