I don't wanna

I have a really bad case of the "I don't wannas." The list of things I don't want to do is long.

I don't wanna go to work in the morning...

...sleep with my CPAP machine tonight

...exercise

...modify my diet

...turn off the TV and engage with people

...turn off the computer and read an actual book

...go to church on Sunday

...watch another swim meet

...clear off the dining room table

...do the laundry

I just plain don't want to do much of anything. I don't feel depressed or sad. Just unmotivated. And tired. And I don't wanna be a grown up. But I'm responsible enough that I won't let everything slide, however, that's not to say that I don't face some things kicking and screaming.

What do you do to rid yourself of the I don't wannas? Who or what is the source of your motivation?

You need a day to yourself... with no responsibility or commitment... maybe a spa day or a day to just lay in bed and read a book or a day to walk around a mall or whatever it is that YOU want to do. I don't know if there is a way you can do that, but if there's a way you can make it happen, 24 hours to yourself will leave you feeling re-energized and refreshed and motivated to keep going!!! Everyone needs a day like that every so often! :)

Boy do I feel ya!! I definitely get in slumps like that... more often than I should, I'm sure.

I get in slumps like that a LOT, especially during hot weather. I hate the heat, so it irritates me.

I have to leave the house. Maybe go on a mini vacation, or just spend the day OUT. When I leave & come back to my house again, I have a much better perspective on it. I feel more motivated to tackle it.

I can share many of the things on your list. Looking at them all at once is only overwhelming to me, so I'd have to choose just one thing and start w/ that.
One thing-the house. OK, so today I'll clear the table and get the laundry done. Tomorrow plan a healthier meal, etc.

Why can't we all just have house-cleaners?!

Oh sister! You are telling my story! When my depression hits, that's how I get... I could care less what happens to my house and everything around me. Good thing my kids are grown and can take care of themselves (well, i just have dani home now)

Amy looking at your list I believe you should be allowed to say "I don't wanna!!!" You know its only temporary. Trust me as someone that was there I spent so much time on everyone and everything but myself -- you must allow yourself a few selfish days to regroup and regenerate. Our children deserve a happy mom and draggin your azz to do stuff you don't wanna makes an unhappy mommy.

HUGSSSS

I know! Being a grown up is too hard! Maybe you have too many things on your have to list. Maybe if you knew you could say I don't wanna at least once a day you would feel like you have more control over your crazy schedule. Just pick one thing and say no. Would anyone be any less better off if you wasted a part of one day...or one whole one? I'm guessing NOPE

I can't belive I'm admitting this but I agree with the moms . . . you need a "my legs are broken" kind of day. Lets talk about when.

I personally give in to them! I am not responsible enough that way! I take a day every now and then and just ignore the mess and the dishes and declare dinner "fend for yourselves" (except for the ones who can't.) But I will try to sneak it in on one of the others as they make theirs. Like if Jeremy was making chicken nuggets for his "fend," I'd say "Can you just throw a few more in there for Gabi and Preston while your at it?" I know... lazy!! But it feels good to do nothing some days!
