My plan was to get up this morning and do it before we had to leave for Charlie's track meet. Which would have worked swimmingly -- if I'd gone to the grocery store last night. But I didn't. So that moved to first on the list. As I was grocery shopping, I put together a list of viable reasons why the grass wasn't cut in case someone asked. Here's what I came up with:
Top 10 excuses for not mowing the lawn
- It's too early in the morning. Don't want to wake the neighbors.
- I didn't want to get that yucky green stain on my workout shoes.
- I'm observing Earth Day.
- All that fluffy green complements the blue shutters on the house.
- I'm starting a collection of letters from the homeowners association.
- I couldn't decide what pattern to mow in -- horizontal or vertical stripes?
- All those dandelions have such a pretty yellow color.
- I'm thinking about getting a pet goat and it's got to have something to eat.
- Operating a lawn mower is not ladylike.
- It's too late at night. Don't want to wake the neighbors.

I love you.
My excuse is I sold my lawn mower. I never dreamed I'd still be living in this house!!
Love it!! Jeff mowed the front last week and finally tackled the back this week- it was UGLY. But we are making a sincere effort to get the house up to "standard" this year- cleaning up, redoing the landscaping, getting stuff planted, and I know Jeff will finally get our playset up this year!
Man, Joanie, I wish you lived close to me. Would you believe we have an extra mower? It needs a new self propel belt...
I love 1 and 10, brilliant
There is a very overgrown yard that I pass everyday on my way to and from work. They posted a cute sign in the middle of it that say's it's a wildflower garden! I'm not buying it but so far the city hasn't made them mow. Wonder if I could get away with that?
I love the HOA letter collection!
LOL about the GOAT!!! hahahahahahahahaaa!!!
Boy, I'd like to see THOSE homeowners association letters:
Mrs. Magan,
It has come to our attention that you have a GOAT tied up on your front lawn....
