How my cart stacked up

I was at the grocery store this morning to pick up a few things for the next couple of days. (I haven't taken the time to plan ahead any further.) When I got in line, I noticed that I was behind my old doctor. She didn't recognize me -- it's been a long time and I'm sure that she had hundreds of patients in that practice. Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to see what a primary care physician puts in her cart at the grocery store.

This is what she had:
  • Activia yogurt
  • Whole-grain pasta
  • Protein bars
  • 2 gallons of water
  • Strawberries
  • Lower-sodium bacon
Here's what I had in mine:
  • Cheddar cheese
  • Vegetable broth
  • Carrots
  • Bananas
  • Hamburger patties
  • Hot dogs
  • Buns
  • Mini bagels
  • Trash bags
So all in all, if she had recognized me, I wouldn't have been too embarrassed by what was in my cart.  What was in your last cart of groceries?

Normally we only go to the store once every two weeks, and by then my list is so huge i don't think i have enough room here in my little comment box ;-)

That's not bad! Sounds like ours. :)

We had:
bagels
cheddar cheese
cream cheese
vegetable broth
onion
tomatoes
garlic
tofu
veggie burgers
hummus
rice cakes
table cream
frozen lemonade

I gave up sweets and soda for Lent, and we usually abstain from meat for all of Lent, so this is an abnormally healthy cart for us, haha. We are thinking of going meat free 4 days out of the week, though.

And I have no idea why I bought tofu. I don't even know what to do with it.

I'm with Leontien. When we go to the grocery, the cart is high and I'm not coming back for a few weeks. We rely on the local IGA for the basics, but only get to the "big town" (West Lafayette) once every 1-2 weeks.

Hubby came in with milk and eggs the last time we visited the grocery store!

My cart is usually pretty healthy, but at every check out I find random things that have been snuck in by my little guy. Doritos, fruit roll ups, etc. Stinker!

Last stop at the grocery was this evening. We had walked to Pizza Hut for dinner and went to marsh to get free cookies at the bakery for the kids. They only had choclate cookies so I bought a thing of St Patty's Day iced sugar cookies for Teagan since she doesn't eat chocolate. And I bought pancake mix so I can make the kids pancakes tomorrow.

And that was it.

Our grocery cart always has way more stuff in it than that! :) And hubby does most of the grocery shopping from a running list. Right now the list is mostly fruits, veggies and lean meats. Hopefully the grocery cart will be similar!

It's been so long since I grocery shopped that I can't remember! Yikes. Better put that on the to-do list this week...

Last week, my grocery cart held anything my heart desired. It is amazing how much chocolate my heart held dear, last week. I guess I never took an inventory of the person in front of me. But I do remember chuckling one time when a guy had...Pampers, condoms, and beer in his cart. Peace, Jane
